Say ZEBU to the first person you meet in the game. Go left and use the newly activated teleporter.
Pick everything and go north. Use the broken staff in the hole to open the door. Go North. Get the Second half of the staff from the chest. Hold one piece of the staff in each hand and cast mending (FHGACABF) Use the Staff of summoning while holding Warmonger in the other hand. Pick up the Clothes that Shadow Weaber left behind. Enter the Teleporter.

Modify Starting Cash

You can edit the dark.cfg file and add the line “cash_bonus n” N represents the amount of cash added to the beginning of a mission.

Skip to Next Mission

Press [CTRL] + [ALT] + [SHIFT] + [END] to skip to the next mission.

Increase Cash (Bug Exploitation)

Just before completing the mission, do a save or quicksave. Complete the mission and save it in a different save slot. Reload your last save or quicksave before completing the mission. Complete the mission again. The statistics screen should now have ADDED TOGETHER the loot from BOTH mission completions. Apparently, the variable which stores treasure amount at the end of the mission is not being cleared between loads. You can keep doing this until you have all the cash you need to buy out the store at the loadout screen for the mission immediately following.

Blooper mission

- Mission Skipping: If you’re tired of a particular mission, pressing “Control-Alt-Shift-End” will cause the mission to end and allow you to move on to the next mission.

- Money cheat: You can give yourself loot by adding the line “cash_bonus” to your “dark.cfg.” If set to an integer, its value is added to your loot total for loadout purposes.

- Starting Mission - You can start the game at a mission other than Lord Bafford’s Manor by putting the line “starting_mission X” in your “dark.cfg,” where X is the mission number to start at. When you select “New Game,” you will start at that mission.

Don’t Leave Angry

Since the stages are often divided up into separate maps, you find yourself transitioning from one part to the other. If you are being chased by a guard, never leave the map and come back expecting everything to be normal. The guard chasing you will still be there and alerted to your presence. Always make an effort to hide in the same map you are to avoid forgetting that a guard (or party of guards) are waiting for you on the next map.

Start Regedit and use the “Registry/Export Registry File” menu option to create a backup copy of your original registry. Go to the following entry:

Create a string value by selecting “Edit/New/String Value” menu option. Name it one of the following “String Value” names and press [Enter]. Right click on the “String Value” name entry that you just created, click “Modify” then type 1 at the “Value Data” field and press [Enter] to activate that code. Note: Replace 1 with a 0 to disable an activated code. Exit and save the modified registry. Note: Cheats will work after a new level is loaded — loading a saved game will not activate them.

Don’t train in rook. Come instead to the main area then get the key in the harbor. Then train in the troll cave under the graveyard in Carlin. If they touch your monsters, kill them.

Recommended hunting location

A great place for Lv 8s in main to hunt are the troll caves in Ab’Dendriel. Find the cave entrance in the center of town and go down two floors, then proceed north. You will see a door. If the door is locked, go to the cave to the left and find an elf named Shrith. Say “Ashari” then “Key” to him. Buy the key from him for 50 gold. Go back to the door and use the key on it. Go north. Then, use the key on the other door if needed. Proceed up and explore. Note: Do not be afraid to go down the ladders in the center; the only thing in this cave is trolls, and lots of them.
